July Events in & around Cripple Creek, Victor & Florissant

July is here and summer is rolling by faster than we’d like it to. There are a lot of events and activities in the Cripple Creek, Victor and Florissant areas, so be sure and check them out.

Besides the special events listed below, don’t forget about all of the other museums and activities in our area. Mine tours, historical museums, Florissant Fossil Beds, camping, fishing, and a multitude of parks are just a few of the options that are available for your enjoyment.

Fireworks – July 6th in Cripple Creek. Live music starts at noon and fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. You won’t want to miss it!
 The Butte Theater – “I’ve got thrills….they’re multiplying”. That’s right! It’s Grease at the Butte! If you’d prefer, come and see My Partner, which is a classic melodrama and has an Olio afterward. Or, see both! 🙂 the Butte is a fun place to go, it’s historical and beautiful inside, and there’s something for everyone, so click on the link and check it out. Reservations are available online or you can get tickets at the door.

Once Upon a Time in the West Art Show – Cripple Creek Heritage Center through July 8th. Come and see fabulous works of art from talented artists.

Vindicator Trail Tour – July 13th, Victor. Starts at the Vindicator Mine and you’ll hike down to the Theresa Mine while hearing tales of the local underground mines.

Sunnyside Cemetary Tours – July 13th and 27th, Victor. Come and learn some local history!

Victor Gold Rush Days – July 19-21st, Victor. Come for a fun time with games, vendors, vintage baseball tournament, tractor pull competitions, wood carving demonstrations, live music and much more.

Heritage Day – (from Renee Caldwell) Heritage Day is July 27. Start the day off with Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Department and then visit all the wonderful places Florissant has to offer. At the Florissant Grange, we will have crafters and vendors, food, ice cream, music and fun for the children. The International Western Music Association will be performing on our indoor stage all day and outside under the tent we will have a few local talents. The Barrel Train will be available for the kiddos as well as treasure hunt with prizes.
Be sure to visit the Fossil Beds National Monument and Hornbek Homestead, the Pikes Peak Historical Society Museum, the Florissant Cemetery, the Florissant Library and our wonderful Florissant eateries, Costello Street Coffee House, Iron Tree and the Thunderbird.

Pearl DeVere Day & Bed Races – July 27th, Cripple Creek, at the Old Homestead. Learn about and help celebrate the life of Cripple Creek’s celebrated madame, Pearl DeVere. Also, join in the bed racing fun by signing up and bringing your team and bed for this exciting event. Click the link for more details.

The Florissant Grange – Every Wednesday night in Florissant from 6-9. Potluck dinner and music by the Jammers. Wednesdays are great nights for fun, food, fellowship, dancing, and music. Come and bring your family for a good time. If you play an instrument or sing, you can join in, too!
